Introduction

I joined the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies at the Education University of Hong Kong in 2021. Prior to my appointment at EdUHK, I spent ten years teaching Korean language and culture at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and CUSCS. My extensive teaching portfolio spans foundational to advanced language courses, as well as specialized curricula in Business Korean and Korean culture.

Leadership & Awards

Currently, I serve as the Coordinator for the Minor in Korean Studies, a program I spent three years developing and successfully launched in 2024. In recognition of my dedication to educational excellence and program development, I was honored with the 2024-25 Faculty Teaching Award.

Professional Qualifications

I hold the Korean Language Teacher Certificate (Level 1), the highest professional certification issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. Additionally, I possess a Professional Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, ensuring the highest pedagogical standards in my classrooms.

Teaching Philosophy & Vision

I believe that language acquisition is most effective when paired with cultural empathy. To inspire my students, I stay at the forefront of contemporary cultural trends and societal changes in Korea, bridging the gap between traditional learning and modern "Dynamic Korea." My goal is to leverage my vast experience to foster the growth of Korean Studies at EdUHK, continuously evolving as an educator to broaden my students' global perspectives.
