Professional Profile

Henry So holds a BEng degree in Computer Engineering, and a MPhil degree from the City University of Hong Kong. He holds a PGDE(S) degree in IT from The Education University of Hong Kong. He also holds a PhD degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Prior to joining The Education University of Hong Kong, he was an Assistant Professor (Associate Head - Administration @2013-2015) in Tung Wah College. He has over 10 years of project management experience, and he is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a member of the IET and the corporate member of HKIE.

This project aims to develop three sets of teaching and learning packages using the VEX Robotics for control and automation.

Development of a VR-learning monitoring kit
The project aims at assessing the emotions of learning status objectively. The proposal attempts to determine the distributions of various HRV parameters for different learning status emotions and ascertain whether emotions could be predicted with high performance in the use of VR-learning based on HRV parameters.

Establishing a Research Cluster for Promoting Artificial Intelligence in Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (AI-TELL) Research
This project aims to propose and establish a research cluster to promote artificial intelligence in technology-enhanced language learning (hereafter, AI-TELL) research in Hong Kong. The ultimate goal of the proposed AI-TELL research cluster is to identify and bridge the gap between AI techniques and TELL towards developing pedagogical innovations to enhance language learning.

Promoting AI Literacy and Effective Use of AI in Education
The objectives of this project are twofold: firstly to prepare students with AI literacy and secondly to explore and develop AI tools for teaching and learning in a range of academic disciplines. The project will offer a good opportunity not only to develop the AI literacy of students, but also to promote effective use of AI in education as well as to prepare students to adopt AI-powered technology in their future teaching careers.

Designing and Developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Teaching Packages for Junior Secondary Students
This project covers joint efforts to bring up the new generation of AI talent in our society. The GMoodle system is developed for assessment of collaborative learning. The whole process of collaboration is recorded by the system to provide an objective measure and fair evaluation to reflect the actual contribution of each student in a group project.
